A must for all schools!

A must for schools everywhere! As a secondary school, we used Let’s Talk About Loss (Teen Edition) to support students in understanding grief and how to support a friend who has experienced the death of someone close to them. The book speaks to teenagers with honesty, respect, and clarity, without being patronising or overwhelming.

It helped students recognise that grief looks different for everyone and can show up as anger, withdrawal, humour, silence, or sadness — often all at once. The practical guidance on what to say, what not to say, and how to simply be present gave students confidence at a time when many worry about “saying the wrong thing.”

We found it particularly effective in PSHE lessons and small group discussions, creating space for thoughtful reflection and mature conversations. Students engaged openly, asked meaningful questions, and showed increased empathy and awareness of how to support one another.

Let’s Talk About Loss (Teen Edition) is a highly valuable resource for secondary schools. It supports emotional literacy, peer compassion, and resilience, and we would strongly recommend it to any school supporting teenagers through conversations about loss and grief. The children love the cool, comic/gaming style illustrations. We used the kindle versions as a slide show and have purchased the paperback for the library and wellbeing room.
